ABC Broadband/SQUTI Certification 4/21/2025 - 12/31/2026

The ABC SQUTI program, designed to meet the requirements of Minnesota statute § 326B.198, is a comprehensive 40-hour training course that combines online learning with hands-on experience. Developed by industry experts, the curriculum covers seven essential modules: Utility Locates Regulations, Identification and Verification of Utility Lines, Safety Guidelines for Trenching and Excavating, Safety Guidelines for Directional Drill Equipment, Response to Utility Strike Incidents, Traffic Control Procedures, and Avoidance and Mitigation of Safety Hazards. Each module is meticulously crafted to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to work safely and effectively in the field.

Registration through this link covers access to the SQUTI classroom content in the NCCER Learning Management System. The completion of the course content in the LMS meets the requirement for the classroom training portion of the ABC SQUTI program. Each trainee must also complete the required 14-hours of hands-on training. Hands-on training documentation must be submitted by an approved, certified SQUTI instructor. ABC must be notified prior to the hands-on training taking place or else training documentation will not be approved. NCCER Virtual Certification - 2026 1/1/2026 - 12/31/2026

In these courses, you will learn the history of NCCER and how the curriculum was developed, become certified to train, evaluate, or proctor in the craft(s) that you have significant level of experience (i.e. journey-level of experience or greater, 4+ years), ensure that you are using the proper evaluation techniques for your training program and improve upon the ones currently in place, learn the skills needed to successfully manage a training program before, during and after the class, determine what makes a good communicator, a good leader and how to incorporate those qualities into your classroom. Note: Proctor certification does not require 4+ years of experience in the trade/craft for which you will proctor exams.

Depending on which certification you will be earning, these courses may consist of as many as two live-online six-hour sessions, one live-online three-hour session, and four self-guided modules. This course is designed for individuals interested in teaching the 10- and 30-hour construction safety and health Outreach Training Program to their employees and other interested groups. Using OSHA Construction Standards as a guide, special emphasis is placed on those topics required in the 10- and 30-hour programs as well as those which are most hazardous. Students are briefed on effective instructional approaches and use of visual aids and handouts. This course allows the student to become a trainer in the OSHA Outreach Training Program, to conduct both 10- and 30-hour Construction Outreach classes, and to issue cards to participants after verifying course completion. Students who wish to participate as authorized Outreach trainers in the OSHA Outreach Training Program must prepare a presentation on an assigned OSHA Construction Outreach Training Program topic individually or as part of a group and successfully pass a written exam at the end of the course. Minimum student contact hours: 26

Students will need a copy of the CFR 1926 OSHA standards for Construction book for this class. Please contact us if you need to purchase a copy.

Prerequisites:

Students must successfully complete the OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction and have five (5) years of safety and health work experience in the construction industry. A degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation may be substituted for two (2) years of work related experience. Students should obtain guidance on whether they meet this requirement from the OSHA Training Institute Education Center where they intend to receive the training. Authorized OSHA Outreach Training Program trainers are required to attend OSHA #502 Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers at least once every four (4) years to maintain their trainer status.

Prior to registration: Please complete our Prerequisite Verification Forms and attach a copy of your OSHA 510 completion certificate to the form and submit. A college degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation, in the applicable training area may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
