ABC Broadband/SQUTI Certification 4/21/2025 - 12/31/2026

The ABC SQUTI program, designed to meet the requirements of Minnesota statute § 326B.198, is a comprehensive 40-hour training course that combines online learning with hands-on experience. Developed by industry experts, the curriculum covers seven essential modules: Utility Locates Regulations, Identification and Verification of Utility Lines, Safety Guidelines for Trenching and Excavating, Safety Guidelines for Directional Drill Equipment, Response to Utility Strike Incidents, Traffic Control Procedures, and Avoidance and Mitigation of Safety Hazards. Each module is meticulously crafted to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to work safely and effectively in the field.

Registration through this link covers access to the SQUTI classroom content in the NCCER Learning Management System. The completion of the course content in the LMS meets the requirement for the classroom training portion of the ABC SQUTI program. Each trainee must also complete the required 14-hours of hands-on training. Hands-on training documentation must be submitted by an approved, certified SQUTI instructor. ABC must be notified prior to the hands-on training taking place or else training documentation will not be approved. In these courses, you will learn the history of NCCER and how the curriculum was developed, become certified to train, evaluate, or proctor in the craft(s) that you have significant level of experience (i.e. journey-level of experience or greater, 4+ years), ensure that you are using the proper evaluation techniques for your training program and improve upon the ones currently in place, learn the skills needed to successfully manage a training program before, during and after the class, determine what makes a good communicator, a good leader and how to incorporate those qualities into your classroom. Note: Proctor certification does not require 4+ years of experience in the trade/craft for which you will proctor exams.

Depending on which certification you will be earning, these courses may consist of as many as two live-online six-hour sessions, one live-online three-hour session, and four self-guided modules. ABC's 2nd Annual Pickleball Tourney

Thursday, January 8th

This tournament will be hosted by ABC at Pints & Paddle and will feature pool play with the top teams of each pool advancing to a single elimination bracket. Teams register in groups of two for $145. Spectators are welcome to attend and cheer on their co-workers for $15. This is a fun tourney and open to all skill levels. We will have food, drink and awards. Sponsorships are available and will be recognized through promotion of the tourney and signage at the event.

MN state law requires that at least one laborer in an “active” building sewer or water worksite must have a pipelayers card. In this class, you will learn about the certification origin/the decree, review MN state plumbing code pertaining to site/Off - R.O.W./Yard piping projects, pipe laying procedures, code terminology, materials needed, inspection/testing procedures. The certification is valid for three years.

The presenter will be Blayne Vonasek from R. J. Zavoral & Sons

Sportman's Lodge, Baudette, MN

Join us for ABC's 18th Annual Ice Fishing Tournament at Sportman's Lodge in Baudette, MN. We have 4 man sleepers and on shore Villas & Lodge rooms with day houses. We have added a Thursday additional night for a full day of fishing on Friday. It is a great way to reward employees and enjoy member camaraderie. Come Thursday, Friday, Saturday and leave Sunday!
